What do you want to harvest?

Autumn is officially upon us. Every year I look forward to the autumn equinox because it’s my favorite time of year. The colors, cooler weather and foods bring a certain nostalgia. I was thinking that I’m so blessed to now live in a country where we have an extended autumn season. In our area of Japan autumn begins around August 8 on the old agricultural calendar. Winter doesn’t really begin in earnest until around December.  It’s also Rosh HaShanah - the new year- a time of endings and beginnings. Of wrapping up the old and anticipation of the new. This year the holidays coincide with my 61st birthday. In Japan your 60th birthday is considered a second life or a renewal of life. It seems appropriate for me because something just changed for me when I hit 60.  Things that satisfied in the past don’t anymore. Im becoming more and more authentically “me”.
